Fish Seeds Still Shipped from Lampung

Seribu Islands Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-dept revealed, until now, the cultivation and marine conservation center, Tidung Island, South Seribu Islands has not been able to produce other fishes than grouper type.

"We have yet to produce pomfret and white snapper fishes thus the seed shipped from Lampung," expressed Sutrisno, Head of Seribu Islands Maritime, Agriculture and Food Security Sub-dept, Monday (4/25).

Sutrisno disclosed, both fishes are cultivated in the floating net cage (KJA) in Panggang Island, North Seribu Islands. As a distration, it is also waiting for one year of grouper fish breedings from Maritime Sub-dept.

1,500 Seeds of Grouper Fish Released to the Sea

"For pomfret fish, it can be harvested for five months and its result is pretty good. The first harvest has touched three tons at price of Rp 55,000 per kg," he told.

As an experiment, the cultivator will recalculate harvest result of pomfret and white snapper fishes, related to expensive feed purchase. Besides that, it is also conducted for white shrimp as a distraction that can be harvested faster, which is three months.
